My artwork takes a crucial view of social and cultural injustices. Referencing the unfair treatment of African American women in history, my work explores the vital relationship between societal biases and vector shapes. The vector shape typography highlights the remarkable poem “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou, embracing the true beauty of a Black woman. Engaging in the subjects as diverse as the civil rights movement, women’s rights, and Black Lives Matter, my work mimics the recognizable symbol of the powerful fist.
